Practices MAY start first week of March but is determined by your coach. Coaches will reach out to parents and players once registration closes and they receive their rosters. Please allow some time after registration closes.
Scheduling meeting is set for Saturday, March 28th. This depends on local communities and, therefore, we will not have a game schedule any sooner. Prepare for games every Saturday for the month of April and May.
U4 will have games in a practice setting.
U6 have game days on the second practice day of each week. There may be few to no games or tournaments. This depends on what local communities are willing.
U8 and up generally have games every Saturday.
U12 and up may have games on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. This depends on what local communities are willing.
We strive to get as much playing time as possible!
Level of Play
Below is the following birth year matrix model we use to determine placement of teams. Children can move up an age group if their skills and size are appropriate for the older division. Children cannot move down age brackets.
Divisions offered are based on number of enrollment. Our recreational teams are generally even number years. Therefore, if your child should be on a U(odd number) team your child will be bumped up to the next even number.
The recreational divisions we currently offer are:
U4: ages 24 months-3 years
U6: ages 4/5
U8: ages 6/7
U10: ages 8/9
U14: ages 10/11/12/13
U19: ages 14 and up
When registering, please consider this matrix.
Photo/Video Release, Medical Release, and Parent Code of Conduct need to be completed and submitted to your coach in order to allow your player to begin practice.
Equipment
Mandatory equipment to be provided by the player's family includes shin guards, knee-high socks covering the shin guards, dark colored shorts, and soccer cleats.
Another sport cleat, metal cleats, boots or hard soled shoes cannot be worn.
For safety, you must wear these items to participate in practices and games.
Uniform
Our uniform consists of a: HSYSA jersey, dark colored shorts, and light blue soccer socks.
Hair must be up and out of face.
No jewelry or hard hair pieces.
Jerseys are for game days only!
Jerseys will be kept in a tote brought to games by their coach or team parent. The coach will distribute jerseys before and collect jerseys after each game.
Any lost or unreturned uniforms will be charged a $15 fee.
All players will be provided with a pair of light blue soccer socks to be worn on game days. Used socks cannot be returned and therefore another pair will not be given.
Dark, long pants and long sleeves may be worn under the jersey in cool weather but must be fitted and soft.
Rules
The HSYSA Rules of Conduct will apply to players, coaches, officials, parents and spectators.
Coaches will not be responsible for players before or after practices nor games. Do not have your child arrive earlier or stay later without adult supervision. Plan to have them picked up promptly after practices.
Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation and expenses to out of town games.
Tournaments
U8 and older teams may participate in tournaments. The number of teams and players on each team is usually limited for each tournament. Tournament players may be decided by a selection process when necessary. Participation in tournaments is not guaranteed for every player. A copy of your birth certificate and a small photo for your player card may be required for any tournament or festival.
